Effect of radiant heat exposure on structure and mechanical properties of thermal protective fabrics

The heat protective performance of thermal fabrics is related to the multiscale structure fibrous material and composite design a multilayered fabric system. In this study, molecular interpretation provided explain structural changes within fibers correlate with mechanical properties outermost layer made up m-aramid blended (5–10) % p-aramid upon various radiant exposures. An increase in crystallinity due limited polymer chain movement but no change lamellar spacing was observed when were exposed below glass transition temperature which resulted properties. Even though visible by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) aforementioned conditions, we found that their are compromised fabrics. Therefore, further use could be potentially dangerous for user.
